Hermes Birkin 30 Black Box Leather Gold Hardware
The origin of the Birkin bag can be traced back to a serendipitous encounter on a flight from Paris to London in 1981. British actress, singer, and model Jane Birkin found herself sharing her vision of the perfect handbag with a fellow passenger. Unbeknownst to her, this passenger turned out to be Hermès chairman Jean-Louis Dumas. Upon revealing his identity, Dumas expressed Hermès’ willingness to create the handbag of her dreams. This led to a conversation that included initial sketches on an Air France airsickness bag, eventually resulting in the introduction of the iconic Birkin bag three years later.
Every tote is meticulously hand-sewn using Hermès’s traditional saddle-stitching method, and the exotic leathers, ranging from ostrich to crocodile, are then painted and polished by skilled craftsmen in France. Due to the artisanal craftsmanship involved in creating this internationally beloved accessory, it can take several days to produce a single Birkin bag.
The bag is in excellent condition.
